Get Yer Site Rules Here

Welcome to the most boring part of any site! Below you’ll find an attempt to be straightforward about our intentions. Occasionally you’ll see some legal language. Occasionally you’ll see an entertaining sentence, musing, or exclamation thrown in to spice things up.

Our Terms of Use

It’s Conceivable is a website, which should be obvious to us all. Are we done? No. Carrying on: It’s Conceivable is also a service (“the Service”) meant to help gay, lesbian, queer, and trans families, couples, and singles find information, get help, and talk to each other. We (“Us” “IC” “gay girls with website”) are a group of people who have set up the site with good intentions, Type A work ethics, and a sense of adventure. We’re not sure what path It’s Conceivable will take, but we know it will be in response to what our readers want. We’re young, and we’re growing, so there may be some growing pains, although we will do our best to make sure you don’t notice them. We want to provide you with the best content and tools to help you navigate a path to parenting; or, if you are already a parent, to be the best damn GLBTQ parent you can be. We’re determined to add content as fast as we can write it, find it, or edit it. We love hearing your stories. We love hearing your ideas. We love hearing any praise, even if it’s from your mom – or our moms; who, if they are reading this, really do love us). We feature your stories, blogs, columns, and adventures in parenting, and welcome all comments, questions, emails, and tweets you want to send our way. By using the Service, you are agreeing to be Bound by these Terms of Use. (If it helps stifle a yawn, you can picture the Gina Gershon kind).

It’s Conceivable is growing and changing every day, and thus the Terms of Use are subject to change by Us at any time (sorry, control freaks). If you’re especially interested though, we’ll let you know when the latest update occurred by the date on the bottom of this page. If you keep using the Service afterward, we assume that you have accepted the new Terms of Use. (sorry, fine print-eschewers).

Policy When You Use Us (In a Good Way)

One of our goals with IC is to bring you information on the businesses and services you need to adopt, birth a baby, connect with experts, and so on, as well as news, feature stories, images, video, audio and other materials. We try our best to make sure information is accurate, sourced, and thorough, but we make no guarantee that such information is accurate and your use of the information we provide is at your own risk. Basically, there is a small, small, small chance we will make a mistake, post inaccurate information accidentally, or just could be plain wrong at some point. If this happens, please email us and we will swiftly issue a correction. You agree that you will not hold IC liable for any inaccurate, incomplete, outdated or missing information on the Service. And that you still want to be friends if you do.

Some Stuff About Registration

We want everyone to enjoy IC, so you may use the Service without registration (ie, signing up with a email address and password). However, in order to access some aspects of the Service, such as commenting, you will need to register for a WordPress account. We ask that all your registration information be truthful, but we realize that many GLBTQ users may want to protect their privacy in a public space and want to use a pseudonym. We think that’s okay, as long as the information you share is truthful. However, we don’t want the site to get overrun with comments by “Captain Vagina” and “Sir Meowsers.” We want our readers to feel like this is a community of real parents and parents-to-be sharing real information. So I guess if Captain Vagina becomes known for her insightful recommendations and sound advice, it’s okay to use a pseudonym. But if possible, we’d like to know the “real you” and we ask that you be truthful about everything else, such as your gender, sexual orientation, experiences, advice, and recommendations. You are responsible for the security of your password and will be solely liable for any use or unauthorized use under such password. (sorry, computer sharers)

If You Contribute…

It’s Conceivable has many awesome contributors, including our featured bloggers and guest posts by experts and community members. When you contribute Content on IC, you own that Content. However (and we put on our “royal decree” voices for this part), you hereby grant IC a perpetual license to use, redact, republish, copy, perform and distribute their Content and screen name, including any intellectual property contained therein, in any medium now known or hereinafter developed without payment or compensation to you and without seeking any further approval from you. We may further use your name, likeness, publicly accessible biographical data and any other information in connection with such use of the Content. You acknowledge that our use of your Content may include licensing such Content to third parties and/or using such Content for advertising purposes. In no event shall we be required to seek your approval or provide you with any compensation in connection with such uses. You acknowledge that nothing contained within your Content would require us to seek permission of a third party in order to use the Content as described in these Terms of Use. All that stuff we just said is designed to protect us legally – we are not looking to take advantage of anyone and love and praise our contributors constantly.

Shut Yo’ Mouth Policy

If it isn’t TOTALLY obvious by now, we care about you and respect all of our users. We humbly ask our users to show each other, our contributors, and us the same courtesy. If you notice any violation of this Shut Yo’ Mouth Policy or other unacceptable behavior by any user, please alert us at contact@itsconceivablenow.com.

You are solely responsible for the Content that you post on the Service or transmit to other users. By using the Service, you agree that you will not hold IC responsible or liable for any Content from other users that you access on the Service.

While we encourage people to be honest and post what’s on their mind, there are some comments that we won’t allow (We’ve been getting a lot of comments from someone named penisenglargementpills recently, for example). We understand that everyone has different opinions, but IC will make the sole determination as to whether Content is acceptable for the Service. Without limitation, you agree that you will not post or transmit to other users anything that contains Content that:

* is defamatory, abusive, obscene, profane or offensive;
* infringes or violates another party’s intellectual property rights (such as music, videos, photos or other materials for which you do not have written authority from the owner of such materials to post on the Service);
* violates any party’s right of publicity or right of privacy;
* is threatening, harassing or that promotes racism, bigotry, hatred or physical harm of any kind against any group or individual;
* promotes or encourages violence;
* is inaccurate, false or misleading in any way;
* is illegal or promotes any illegal activities;
* promotes illegal or unauthorized copying of another person’s copyrighted work or links to them or providing information to circumvent security measures;
* contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment; or
* contains any advertising, promotional materials, “junk mail,” “spam,” “chain letters,” “pyramid schemes,” or any other form of solicitation.

We may include, edit or remove any Content at any time without notice.

We encourage stories and contributions from all sorts of people, so understand that when using the Service, you will be exposed to Content from a variety of sources and that IC is not responsible for the accuracy, usefulness, safety, or intellectual property rights of or relating to such Content. Now some people might disagree with some content at any point (it’s pretty much the human way) so by using IC you acknowledge that you may be exposed to Content that is inaccurate, offensive, indecent or objectionable. If you object to this possibility, you should not use the Service. (duh)

Don’t Steal Policy

It took us a long time to write and produce the content that you see, so as you can imagine we’ll be pretty upset if we saw it blatantly copied elsewhere in the wide world of Internet. Here comes another decree: you may not catalog, download or otherwise reproduce, store or distribute content available on the Service. You may not resell use of, or access to, the Service to any third party. We (IC) are the exclusive owners of all copy, software, graphics, designs and all copyrights, trademarks and other intellectual property or proprietary rights contained on or used in connection with the Service. Except as set forth herein, you agree not to copy, distribute, modify or make derivative works of any materials without the prior written consent of the owner of such materials. If you’d like to feature something we’ve done, just ask.

Privacy Policy

IC collects personal information about you such as your name, email address, postal address or telephone number only if you voluntarily submit it to us.

From time to time we may contact members by email with information regarding news, site updates, new content, or just to say hi. These communications may contain information about our partners, but all emails will come from us. We will not give your email address to another party to promote their products or services directly to you.

We will never sell your Personal Information to any third party not affiliated with IC without your consent. Aggregate Information may be shared with any number of parties, provided that such information shall not specifically identify any individuals.

Some Stuff About Links

We provide a lot of links to a lot of other sites, in an attempt to give you the best information out there. This includes links to other web sites not maintained by us. The links may include listings that provide you with further information, or links that have been included in the comments by other users. Know that when you leave IC, we are not responsible for the practices or the content of such other web sites or services.
