Joan Jett To Be First Lesbian Rocker in Hall of Fame?

Oh hey! I love Rock n’ Roll. And I love Joan Jett. So when the 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees were announced yesterday, I was happy to see everybody’s favorite leather-clad, no-bullshit lesbian rocker on the list. In case you somehow aren’t familiar with how awesome she is, I’ve put together a quick video list of Joanphilia.

The top comment on this video in YouTube is “Making lesbians out of straight girls since 1975…”

Just…like…f yeah.

Here she is on Ellen a few years ago, still looking kick-ass.

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning starred as Jett and Cherie Curie in The Runaways last year. Personally, I think Stewart did a great job of capturing her charisma, sex appeal, and nonchalance.

More reasons to love Jett?

  • She was a producer for Bikini Kill’s 1994 album
  • She was a major influence on the Riot Grrrl movement
  • She was listed in Rolling Stone as one of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time
  • She has a signature model of a Gibson Guitar

The other 2012 nominees are Guns n’ Roses, The Beastie Boys, The Cure, Donovan, Eric B. & Rakim, Heart, Freddie King, Laura Nyro, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rufus and Chaka Khan, the Small Faces, the Spinners, Donna Summer and War.

The 27th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held April 14, 2012 in Cleveland.

Actually, Dusty Springfield posthumously gained that honor with her 1999 induction into the RnRHoF.
